Grow your own saffron with this beautiful crocus. They produce large sterile, rich lilac flowers with distinctive purple veins in autumn.
- They are named after the Latin term for 'Golden Leaves'. Their three long deep-red stigmas are cultivated commercially for colouring and flavouring food.
- To provide the conditions in which it needs to thrive, plant the bulbs in gritty, well-drained soil and keep the area weed free
