Allium atropurpureum is a fun drumstick allium, bearing a tightly packed ball of maroon-purple flowers on top of a tall, stout stem. It’s native to the Balkans, where it can be found growing in dry, open spaces.

• Grow Allium atropurpureum in a sunny, sheltered spot in free-draining soil. It’s ideal for using to fill gaps in a sunny border and may also be grown in pots

• Plant 10 cm deep, 20cm apart

• Mature flowering height: 1m
